Vice President Biden will hold an online conversation on gun violence Thursday, the latest step by the White House to make its case on the issue directly to the public in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting.
The event dubbed a fireside hangout in a nod to former president Franklin D. Roosevelts fireside chats will be hosted by Google+ and will take place at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release posted Wednesday on the Google blog.
During his 30-minute hangout, Vice President Biden will discuss the White House policy recommendations on reducing gun violence with participants including Guy Kawasaki, Phil DeFranco and moderator Hari Sreenivasan from PBS NewsHour, reads the message on the Google blog. If youd like to suggest a question, just follow the participants on Google+, and look for posts about tomorrows Hangout. To view the broadcast live, just tune in to the White Houses Google+ page or YouTube channel on Thursday afternoon.
Biden the administrations point man on gun control last week devoted the entirety of his remarks at the U.S. Conference of Mayors to the issue. At President Obamas news conference last week announcing his broad gun-control agenda, the White House also notably invited onstage four young children who had written to the president and later released online videos of the quartet of kids reading their letters aloud.
