Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell Opposes Electoral Vote Change

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell (R) has come out against a plan by a Republican Virginia state senators to divide its electoral votes by cogressional district, a move that would have given Mitt Romney a dominant win in the state in 2012. Per the Atlantic's Molly Ball:

VA Gov. McDonnell does not support the electoral college bill. "He believes Virginia’s existing system works just fine as it is," per spox.

A spokesman for Republican Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell says the governor opposes the GOP legislation that would award the state's electoral votes in presidential elections by congressional district -- instead of the current winner-take-all system.

"The governor does not support this legislation. He believes Virginia's existing system works just fine as it is. He does not believe there is any need for a change," said spokesman Tucker Martin.

This opposition by McDonnell essentially kills the chances that the Electoral College change would become law in the state. In addition, another Republican state senator in Virginia today said he also was against the change.

And it wouldn't help Republicans in the gubernatorial election.

The media helped here.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Watch what they do.

If they backtrack now in Virginia, they'll just try to sneak it through in different states at different times.

Don't trust them. Ever.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]What baffles me is how so many keep letting them slide, giving them more chances, and trusting that they might change for the better because they say/do something halfway honest or "nice" once in a while.

Let's keep hammering home the facts of their dishonesty, hypocrisy, and nonstop efforts to subvert the democratic process.

Hell, when he ran for office he portrayed himself as a moderate. Next step ... trans-vaginal probes and laws requiring clinics which offer abortion services to meet hospital OR standards.

Fuck what McDonnell says, I want to see what he does.
