Researcher: Students Who Host Parties Drink More

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Researchers behind a study said on Thursday that college students who host parties consume an average of 1.5 more drinks than their guests.

A survey of nearly 4,000 OSU students showed that during the academic year, 10 to 12 percent of students host parties on a given weekend, CrimeTracker 10's Jeff Hogan reported.

"That was surprising to me that there was that great of a number of students who are in that position of controlling the context for other students' drinking," researcher Cynthia Buettner said.

Junior Corbin Willis said that some students think it is easier to host a party.

"There's always like one guy who's hosting, and he's always the most drunk," Willis said. "If there's a link to certain things, you get to cut it. You get to call, 'house.' That just speeds up the whole process, too."

Also they don't have to drive anywhere. And they obviously like to party, since they are hosting one. I imagine that's is what accounts for it.
