Paul Ryan is a Cry Baby

Paul Ryan is going to pass a budget through the House that would balance the budget within 10 years. That sounds good, but his last plan didn't balance the budget until 2040, and people looked at that and said, basically, that they'd rather get a nasty case of the clap. Ryan is now going to come back at us with something we'll consider worse than genital herpes. The funny thing is that he knows that people think he's indistinguishable from a penis wart.
Unfortunately, the Democrats are unlikely to accept our proposals. They refuse to consider real reform. But we will lay the groundwork for future endeavors. So when reform is possible, we will be ready.
The president will bait us. Hell portray us as cruel and unyielding, Ryan said. Look, its the same trick he plays every time: Fight a straw man. Avoid honest debate. Win the argument by default.
The way he tells it, its the president and only the president whos trying to fix our bridges, to feed our children, to care for seniors, to clean our water, Ryan added. But we cant get rattled. We wont play the villain in his morality plays. We have to stay united. We have to show that if given the chance we can govern. We have better ideas.
Paul Ryan doesn't give a crap about protecting Medicare and Medicaid or balancing the budget. He doesn't care about fixing bridges, feeding hungry children, making sure seniors have security, or the quality of our environment.
He wants to give you gonorrhea.

Completely incurable gonorrhea may be at hand
By Jason Koebler

Gonorrhea infects close to 700,000 Americans each year.
The fears of major health organizations have come true: Gonorrhea that is immune to the last remaining effective oral antibiotic has been detected in at least nine North American patients, meaning the era of "incurable" gonorrhea could be close.
In a study released Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, a group of scientists led by Vanessa Allen of Public Health Ontario, found that 6.7 percent of patients with gonorrhea at a Toronto clinic still had the disease after a round of cephalosporins, the last effective oral antibiotic used to treat the disease. Of 133 patients who returned for a "test of cure" visit, nine remained gonorrhea-positive. This is the first time cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea has been found in humans in North America.
Last year, both the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control warned that untreatable gonorrheathe world's second most common sexually transmitted infectioncould soon be a reality as the bacteria showed increasing resistance to cephalosporins in lab tests.
"These are the clinical cases we've been waiting for," Allen says. "This is the translation of the lab information into what the clinical consequence is."

On NPR I heard that there is only one antibiotic which has limited effectiveness in curing this superstrain, and that if doctors prescribe it freely, the bacteria will develop resistance to the one remaining drug that works. After that, the patient has a chronic infection, and all that can be done is treat the effects of the disease as they arrive...and pain management.
Sorry about hijacking the thread. As you were.

(6,234 posts)I don't mean the plan where we make tax cuts on the wealthy permanent or address unaffordable healthcare by making buying insurance from corrupt corporations the law, but our plan for dealing with poverty.
Hell, what's our plan for ANYTHING?
So far it's basically been: Let's do something the GOP proposed a five years ago, and we'll just call it liberal!
In five years we'll be promoting and adopting the Ryan Plan ourselves and calling it a bold new Dermocratic party proposal.

(7 posts)Ryan's hero, Ayn Rand, published her novels at a time when the US was transforming from a backwater Robber-Baron economy to the greatest nation the world has ever seen thanks to the hybrid socialist/capitalism concepts of Labor Rights, Social Safety nets, and Federal economic intervention like the construction of the Interstate Highway System. Her views of 'Objectivism' can only return this country to a late- 1800's mentality.
