Found on the Miss REVOLutionaries Facebook page
"Earl Martinez is a 28-year-old Oregonian suffering from Alport Syndrome, a genetic kidney disorder that has forced him to undergo dialysis treatments for the past year and a half. In order to survive, he needs a new kidney, but the hereditary nature of his disease makes it impossible for his family to provide it. So, after waiting on a transplant list for over a year, Martinez has taken a more active role in addressing his medical needs by begging for a kidney donor on the side of an Oregon road"
Money is no obstacle for Martinez, who has health insurance. My insurance would cover all medical costs on my side and the donors side, Martinez told local CBS affiliate KOIN. The donor would have no medical costs at all.

(21,691 posts)The linked article is terrible. Untreated high blood pressure and diabetes have long been the the #1 and #2 causes of ESRD, long before the obesity "crisis." Not only does it fail to mention those things, it doesn't give his blood type; if he's B-, he's got a snowball's chance in hell of getting a tx (slightly better if he's O-) and if he's unmarried and childless, he's been given a low priority by UNOS. The obesity "crisis" has little to do with having a blood type shared with a tiny fraction if the populace ( B -) or how UNOS ranks people by reproductive status and disease, etc.

Like Match.com or Christianmingle.com, but unlike them, this would do good. Everybody has two kidneys. If mine weren't so fucked up with stones every seven years, I would donate one of mine to save a life. Alas, I am a poor candidate.
But this guy is using social networking of a somewhat crude nature. Kudos to him. I wish him luck.
Kidney transplants are very successful. Go for it, guy.
