his successor Priebus - says very disappointed is the tip of the iceberg.
Wow!!! The internal Re[THUG fighting deepens.

I guess the fringe of the right has gone so far off whacky, the regular nuts look reasonable now. Maybe this is the plan.
Wait Wut
(8,492 posts)He does seem pretty normal. I know he has a sense of humor which doesn't seem to exist in the GOP.

(130,865 posts)and repugs did themselves and him a disservice for kicking him away.
I wouldn't assume a 'plan' from those guys, as there's no one to plan, imo.

(7,515 posts)He was as nutty and deceitful as the rest of the the GOP when he was heading the RNC...They booted him out and he's been getting his subtle revenge ever since.

(11,760 posts)We had some quite decent Republican folks back when they existed, like the late Mac Mathias and Gilbert Gude... The still living Connie Morella was decent too
I do not like Bob Ehrlich though, he has the stink of whack job Republican on him, Steele was his Lt. Governor

(3,056 posts)He was my rep for the couple of years I lived in the South (SF) Bay area back in the late 70's. Great guy. He was the only Republican I've ever voted for, but since he became a Democrat in 2007, does that count?

(34,582 posts)he went right back to what he was, though, vetoing a minimum wage increase in his state.

(3,056 posts)Even when he was top shill for the Republican Party, I was beginning to feel his heart just wasn't in it. "OMG, I've got to be the voice of these bat-shit crazies" always seemed to be right under the surface. I wouldn't be even a little bit surprised if he's the next to leave the Republicans, because I sure don't see them changing their tune anytime soon. I doubt he'll go full Dem, probably Independent though. I mean, hell. Would YOU want to be associated with those loons?

(1,009 posts)when they're no longer beholden to their job as a politician, are pretty normal and rational. That leads me to believe that what they're doing is just a facade to play to their audience. Which means they are lying to their audience.
I think there are some genuine nutjobs, like Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachmann. But the rest are probably disgusted with the views they have to side with.
If that is the case, I know I could never live with myself and say the things they have to say to keep being re-elected or to bring in the cash. It's like a hooker who hates sex.

(17,528 posts)You give them too much credit! They are selfish evil bastards!

(1,009 posts)I mean, if they believe in the crap they're spewing, then they're evil idiots. If they don't believe in the crap they're spewing, then they're hypocritical lying evil bastards. Either way, taking the current GOP position is wrong regardless of whether one believes in that position or not.

(23,340 posts)Speaking as a Marylander who remembers him as the head of the GOP in PG county, long before he was the token black Republican in Erhlich's brief governorship.
Steele is about Steele. Bullshit artiste in extremis. Self-promoting asshole.
Did you know he is the former brother-in-law to Mike Tyson, before his sister divorced Tyson's sorry ass?

(156 posts)I don't trust him for as far as I can throw the building I work in. This is a Man who bused in people (homeless people) from D.C. to hold signs in his support while running for the Senate, a man (small M intended) who after telling the truth about Rush Limbaugh, went on his show and literally kissed his ass (like they all do). Who cares if he's disappointed, if there was a word to describe Mr. Steele, disappointed would not even make the list.

(14,177 posts)he is a horrible excuse for a human being. It must be hard for Steele to see what replaced him, someone with fewer redeeming qualities than Frank Burns. Yeah, I had to go there using a fictional character to compare Prince Rebus to, cuz their just aren't that many real people with so few good qualities.
