White tail deer all over the roads.
Wild turkeys, too.
Rick Snyder's governor.
He lied to the voters, too.

(I am no poet.)

But it is beautiful here in the Manistee National Forest.

We've got all sorts of animalcules here. Love the coyotes when they're doing their howling at night. The raccoons are a pain in the butt. Haven't yet seen a cougar (apparently they're here), but i saw a Lynx in my driveway years ago. Made my day!

Furry/feathered life is awesome. I am going to attempt to grow feathers this year, but my beard isn't cooperating.

Of course, all of Newaygo county is rural. There's more deer here than humans. Plus, we have great all you can eat fish and chips at the Last Chance in Hawkins, MI three nights a week.

Sometimes rural is really good. My friend and I make apple wine from his orchards. Life is grand. Nature provides.

in January and being a Southerner, I actually *did* enjoy your winter weather. I figured out if I kept my head warm, my wool suit and overcoat did the rest. I think it was -5F, but I was out at 7 am drinking coffee and loving the breeze .

Okay, it was cold as can be, but still, it's pretty there. Can't beat the people, nice, friendly and will go out of their way to be helpful.

Seems low, given the number of Bostonians who are always posting all over DU. Maybe they're just the prolific loud mouths.

(I kid! I'm a loud-mouthed New Englander myself, just transplanted to the Rockies. :hi

the attorney and friend of the nut job James Yeager. The guy on you tube who was going to start shooting people if this goes one inch further? I saw the video with Dana and Dana says "people who think like we do" and he talks about "asking permission to use firearms" whch is ultra gun nut speak for registering firearms, usually of the militia type. He has now asked to remove the ban on firearms in the city council meetings. What a loser. He lives in Fieldstone Farms.

I was just kind of kidding around. I love/hate Columbus. It's not bad compared to some other places. Sometimes I do feel kind of stuck and it seems kind of bland. It's all relative. I'm working on my attitude towards the whole thing. Trying to have a good attitude.

The clouds were the only drawback to winters! I really miss getting up, picking a direction and going for a drive. It is so beautiful out there! The St John Bridge....all the bridges really. The Farmers' Market in the Park Blocks and Mondo Croquet, Portland Center Stage...all the great restaurants and bars....the neighborhoods...metro! And the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden and Forest Park and Mount Tabor and the dog parks! Coming into the city on I5 at night.....And all the inexpensive movie houses and Goodwill shopping and the block parties/ street fairs and the Zoo Bombers stack of bikes and Powell's! And the everyday people whose very existence is art!
....some day!
