(11,700 posts)The National Weather Service issued tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of Oklahoma and Texas early Tuesday as a line of severe weather marched from the Southern Plains toward the southern Ohio Valley.
Dangerous lightning, hail up to an inch in diameter and wind gusts of 70 mph were considered most likely in the tornado-watch area, which extended from Hardeman County, Texas, to Osage County, Okla.
About 6:30 a.m. ET, the NWS was monitoring a severe thunderstorm moving at about 55 mph through Oklahoma, issuing warnings for people to take cover as it approached.
Additionally, the weather service said there was the potential for a significant, severe weather event from Louisiana and Arkansas to Mississippi and southwest Tennessee.
Tornadoes, some of them strong, were expected in Arkansas, northern Louisiana, southeastern Missouri, western Mississippi and southwestern Tennessee, the NWS added.

(13,460 posts)I remember they olden days when storms in January were about snow in KY. I used to go sledding as a kid. I think we've had 6 inches of snow all winter. I guess, as they say about everything that is TOTALLY FUCKED UP it's "The New Normal".

(13,460 posts)The conservatives will point to snow SOMEWHERE on the map and say "See, no climate change"; then they will say "but if there IS climate change, it's all a natural cycle and nothing we can do about it", then someone on their side will say "actually some of it might be caused by us, but hey, it's WONDERFUL, nobody likes being COLD", then of course "but we all know climate change is a hoax".
They can't even keep their lies straight.
