a quote just a while ago by Senator Barbara Boxer on MSNBC. How laughable - cause when the Dems had the opportunity to modify the filibuster to prevent things like that from happening - they didn't take the shot. Now - "Katy bar the door". Yeah - what are they going to do if the Repugs filibuster Hagel? You tell me.

The GOP has no real reason to filibuster him. He was a Senator in good standing, and is perfectly qualified for the job. And they know it.

10. In regards to the failure of the Democrats to modify the filibuster rules in a major way....

....I guess we all know that sometime down the road, Democrats will be in the minority in the Senate. I have no idea when, or if that will happen, but you can bet if it does happen, the Democrats will want to have the filibuster available.

11. My Thoughts On That Is That If President Obama Was Able To Get His Agenda Passed With The Help...

of a Senate that wasn't tied up because of a filibuster - that - things would begin to normalize in this country and the economy would perk up and the American People would see that the Repugs were holding us back. The Dems would win the Presidency in 2016 and perhaps keep it for another two terms taking us to 2024. We would win back the House hopefully in 2014 or 2016.

Now - as I said above President Obama could be almost considered a lame duck. To get anything he'll be wanting - he'll have to compromise to the point that whatever he does will be weakened. The American People sensing no progress might then turn the Senate over the the Repugs and we'd probably lose the Presidency in 2016.

I would have been willing to take that chance with a strong filibuster reform - to allow President Obama to accomplish his wish list. Now - all we get is Senators like Barbara Boxer (whom I really like) saying things like "Katy Bar The Door" if the Repugs filibuster Hagel.

Well what do you expect? You gave them the opportunity to filibuster - and guess what - they will use it. Hagel might make it - but rest assured that there will be other important tasks that will be filibustered. Why? Because they will do everything in their power to not make President Obama be successful.
