He singlehandedly pretty much kept Oliver North out of the US Senate by encouraging another Republican to run as an independent candidate.

The independent candidate gave enough cover for people who didn't want to vote for North but who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Chuck Robb due to political policy differences.

co-sponsored the Brady Bill, co-sponsored the ban on assault rifles bill with Diane Feinstein. He was a reasonable Republican. There are no more of those currently serving in the halls of government now.

He didn't seek reelection and was replaced by Mark Warner in 2008.

Yeah, John Warner was a good guy until he rubbed stamped all of W's policies. He left when he realized he should have stood up to Bush and Cheney.

All the war mongers care about is Israel. John McCain & Lindsey Graham are 2 of the worst. I do hate them with every fiber.

Been rotating between C-Span and MSMBC. Can't believe it's still going on & on. Hagel is going to sleep tonight...must be exhausted. I like his answers!
