Impending recession

The austerity measures that Obama has felt necessary since becoming President will forever tarnish his legacy. Why tackle the deficit now? Why give into the conservative dogma that government is bad and can't create any jobs? The idea that austerity measures will grow the economy is not just a humongous delusion by the conservatives but it's part of their master scheme. Conservatives at their root believe that all governments should be abolished and that wealth equates freedom. They believe that the underprivileged masses, which will grow exponentially under a new recession, will seek religion and become hardened, angry, and neglect making decisions for themselves. The conservative idea of personal responsibility after all is do what we say, not do what is correct. To them the ends justify the means and if they must bring down the world's greatest economy to achieve it so be it.

Just look at what happened to Greece as an example, the rise of the far right. They will use religion to legitimize the position of the upper class and give false hope to the masses. Far right groups will gain traction and eventually they will establish an authoritarian regime based on the principles of corruption and absolute morality where gays and women are openly discriminated against with no repercussion.

This is the conservative idea of a perfect world. One where equality ceases to be possible and lineages are what separates the animal from actual people in their minds. Unfortunately, Obama seems to believe that it is better to appease everyone then to do what is correct. He has accepted the false rationality of conservatives countless times and thus I fear an impending recession.

villain of the day which led to the recession of 1937 after 4 years of economic recovery. Of course, republicans were harping for austerity then just as they are now. Why a Democratic president would be influenced by them is a mystery to me, but it has happened before.

Channeling talk radio there.

How do you ignore the stimulus, the recession, the tax increases on the wealthy, the tea party surge in 2010, the steady economic growth since 2009, the steady employment gains since 2009, etc, etc...and re-write history to lay it all at the feet of Obama and what he "seems to believe"? Its a clever argument, and a clever way of arguing, but stinks of the worst RW arguments there are - which lost all remaining hope of credibility during the last election cycle.
