WTH? This week, at least three shootings

were done by old, white men. The California doctor was shot by a 75 year old, the Phoenix shooter is described as a 70 year old and the Atlanta man who shot the young man in his driveway was 69 years old.

Is it something about the aging process or is it the influence of anger generated by some (Fox, Limbaugh, Beck) media outlets?

Not sure why you are spotlighting white men shooting - egads - three people when gangs in Chicago are filling each other full of lead every single day.

4. You're right. I guess those shootings not getting the same

coverage, has left me with a disjointed view of what's really going on. It just struck me as bizarre that the "big" stories in the media seemed to revolve around older shooters. (The Alabama man who shot the bus driver and took the child is also an older white man.).

You are discounting the violence in other places - just pointing out a few of the more publicized ones where there is a similarity between the shooters.

My answer - I don't know - but I've been watching bumper stickers lately - and have come to some stereotypes/generalizations.


Like this morning - heading north on 287 I saw a late model Chrysler 'boat' with the following bumper stickers:

That same guy is the one that gives my husband and me dirty looks.

He's probably the guy that when my parents first started dating more than 40 years ago called my mother a N8gger* Lover at Point Pleasant Beach.


I'm going out on a limb and thinking you aren't a minority woman and so you haven't experienced this type of person's animosity directed at you in your life - right?

news of late has just made me wonder if we are seeing the results of growing anger and paranoia fostered by the tea party and right wing media. Perhaps we're simply hearing about these incidents because of the increased scrutiny of all shootings after Sandy Hook.

5. The unusual makes news

"Poor teenager shoots poor teenager", unfortunately, doesn't sell as a headline. "Old guy shoots relative" does, because it happens a lot less.

12. Here in Kaufman County Texas an assistant DA was just gunned down this morning.

Two men in a silver ford Taurus said to be wearing "tactical vests" (in quotes because I don't know exactly what that means) shot them 2 blocks from the courthouse. They just confirmed he's dead.

I don't expect this is going to generate the same reactions from people, since it appears to be a revenge shooting. It's all the same to me though. Our society is broken and to make matters worse it's also well armed.
