Lindsey Graham's Hysterics

know that all is cool reason in Republican circles, and nobody's listening any more to the old people on the Medicare scooters who mistake bags of Earl Grey for millinery, but if you want to see the walking, living, sweating, mewling manifestation of still runnin' a'skeered, take a gander these days at Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. This is a man with the gallows in his eyes, Because he hasn't been entirely insane, and because South Carolina's wingbits have been deprived of their real campeon de loco, Jim DeMint, and because of, you know, that conspicuous longtime bachelorhood issue, Graham has become something of a target. Goes to show you.
Back in the glory days of the 1990s, nobody was more fervent an impeacher than then-Congresscritter Lindsey Graham. Impeaching a president over a blowjob just doesn't carry the weight in conservative circles as it used to.

(You will note that, in this case, the blog abandoned its usual style of referring to that period as "the pursuit of Bill Clinton's penis around the Beltway." That is because context, my children, is everything. We continue.)

Anyway, Graham has responded to the change in his circumstances by having public high-sterics on just about every issue at just about every opportunity. Here he is on the hot issue of the moment.

Well, there will be no immigration reform unless it's bipartisan. But if you want to talk about the president bringing us together and being a bold leader, in 2007, when we tried to do immigration reform, he folded like a cheap suit when the labor — AFL-CIO got mad at the bill to allow temporary workers. Obama — Senator Obama put a sunset on the temporary worker provision, which destroyed the bill for business. So I don't need a lecture from Barack Obama about bipartisanship. He was never very good at it in the Senate. And if you're going to get a bill, you need the president involved.

Steady there, Huckleberry.
