SF 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss speaks out about gay players:

49ers WR Randy Moss on issue of gay teammates:
"You see guys, you sometimes wonder but it's not anyone's job to call them out. I really believe we should be able to look beyond that. It's 2013."
Moss was then asked if an openly gay high school player would be recruited the same way other college prospects are. He said: "I don't think we're ready to move past that, but we should be. We need to be able to move on and accept it."

Go Randy!

They are always smiling, and happy, merry and jovial. But I do like homosexuals just fine.

As a resident of Minnesota, I had to watch him play during football season.
I despised him.

He had great athletic ability,
but was NEVER a team player.
It was ALL about HIM.

He never blocked for anyone else,
and if he wasn't the primary receiver on a called play,
he put no effort into running his route.
The defense could tell where the ball was going simply by watching how strong Randy came off the line.

He never chased down interceptions or fumbles,
and would stroll casually back to the huddle with the clock running out and Minnesota behind on the board, wasting time.

During interviews after Minnesota suffered a humiliating loss,
Randy would separate himself from the team by saying things like,
Well, I had a pretty good game. My stats were good. I made some good catches.

Randy was a thing of beauty when he went UP for a ball in the endzone,
but if I were a NFL coach, he wouldn't have lasted a single season with my team.

NOW, I am willing to look past all of that,
and commend Randy Moss as a Stand Up Guy!
KUDOS to RM!
All is forgiven.

Instead, he marched to his very different drummer.
By saying this, he has proven to be acceping and a stand up person.

I prefer Brendon Ayanbadejo of the Ravens and his stated desire to work for marriage equality and anti-bullying measures.

I'd rather pro athletes NOT be activists. Rest assured more than not would likely NOT be sympathetic to progressive causes.

Kluwe also has the advantage of not being on the Ravens.

in a lot of the NFL, any voice should be applauded. They are still taking a stand. All of them should be applauded rather than a tepid, " that's nice."
I applaud Ayanbadejo too. His work is exceptional. However, I don't expect everyone to be that active. Hopefully more will be.
In the meantime, every step by any person is a welcome development.

He disrupts a defensive secondary just by being on the field, because if he isn't covered, or double covered and his QB goes through his reads and sees Randy open, he will still make the catch most of the time. He still gets open on third downs and he's still a solid player. I've watched him play since he played high school ball and I've never seen anyone better. Randy Moss is still fun to watch. When he was in High School the fans called him "the Freak" and to go to the old Dupont High School field and watch Randy scoot on kickoff and punt returns and make those great circus catches on Friday nights, one understood perfectly, how Mr. Moss got his "Freak" title.

Randy Moss was a man among boys out there at Dupont High. Same thing at Marshall U...same thing in the NFL. Worth the price of admission, IMHO, if you love great football.

One doesn't have to found a non-profit or the equivalent to lend their name...publicly and honestly...to the Equality conversation. It really is becoming an important "tipping point" and the more public the profile, the more vitality the comments. Encouraging.

I'm just reading what he had to say differently that most here. It's not an endorsement of gay rights, per say. It's more like he'll go along with the changing times just because, they're changing.
