and I know that I said I would return after the 2012 elections (because I tire of the bickering and name calling in election years instead of debate and discussion). I'm also struggling financially which is keeping me away and less engaged. But I just wanted to post a thought about something I miss. I used to exchange personal emails with the late Ted Kennedy (even though I'm from NC) who was the only politician I have been able to do that with other than local politicians. I miss that. It always helped me keep a positive outlook. I still get the Christmas postcard from the Edward M Kennedy Institute for the Senate and occasionally a Vicki letter. But it's not the same in my current period of depression. Anyway, have a good day DU. Stay postive even when I can't always do that. Hopefully, I can pull out of my funk.

(34,589 posts)Seriously - I hope that you get a pick-up. These are very, very difficult times - but FWIW, for the first time in 30 years, I feel that things are starting to turn around.
I'm blown away that my former senior senator sent personal emails to you - you must have touched his heart in some way. If it's not too intrusive, may I ask what types of things you communicated on?

Hyannis Port Compound, was specifically created to benefit Very Special Arts, depicting the Cape Cod home of Senator Kennedy's parents, Joseph P. and Rose Kennedy

(14,557 posts)It is an amazing feeling when you know you are connected to the decision making around you.
I am sorry you lost that connection with the passing of Senator Kennedy.
Sometimes I go awhile without posting...but, I'll read nearly the whole DU, daily.

(52,589 posts)I've believed it for the longest time. But things have been negative for me, especially since they deregulated the mortgage industry. A sudden crash in something that was stable and I depended on has wrecked my world. Steady hand at the tiller I guess is required.

It is soooooo normal to reflect back to Ted and your missing him is natural. Keep in touch with us. PM me anytime!
