It is becoming readily apparent that phone banking is going to go the way of the dodo bird and unless we all want to just let Super PACS BUY millions of dollars of ad buys the answer lies in EFFECTIVE door to door canvassing.
That happens at the block and precinct level.
So, I'm just putting it out there - how many precincts are in the US?
What's the average number of Democratic and Independent voters in those precincts?

(3,123 posts)I live in a town with a pop. of around 26,000
BUT,
registered voters # around 15,000 and we have 7 precincts which equals just over 2000 voters per precinct.
OF THAT Dems have a slight advantage over Reps say 38% to 30% leaving the rest as Unenrolled( what we here in MA call Independents)
It is very doable to canvass that number - included in that is the fact that not all voters vote in every election so a canvasser can 'target' likely voters first and then hit the 'less active voter

(3,123 posts)a MAJOR candidate for President ought to able to field that many serious volunteers throughout the country which brings it down to the local level.
Then those people identify 'block captains' and they set out to work neighborhoods. They would be the 'go to person' for yard signs, bumper stickers( I've read that getting a candidate's bumper sticker on a person's car is like giving $10,000 donation because so many people see it).
Come election day each 'block captain' would make sure that the people they have identified as 'supporters' have voted.
Very do-able
And truly grassroots

(25,771 posts)Chinni and Gimpel use counties to look at the real makeup of America rather than the red state blue state lie. They find 12 tupes of counties.
Anyway, there are 3,141 counties in the United States. Counties might have anywhere from 12 - 1500 precincts (by my estimation which could be way off) depending on whether it is rural, suburban, urban, or - in Newt's case. lunar - I would think there could be as many as 500,000 or more.
I would think that you could check with Secretaries of State or Dem Party HQ in each state. The Dem party has a pretty good handle on that info.

(4,175 posts)I once saw a number of 3000 precincts in all the states and territories.
Election fraudsters are and have been in control of those precincts they need or want for important imminent elections.
We may be too late.
Volunteers as voting marshals or wardens are usually requested by election officials.
Precincts are generally partisan controlled.
Good luck to all of us.
