How about $100 to be sure that for the next four years the person in the Oval office would stop what he or she was doing, take your call, and do what you asked. Think about that. No matter what the President is doing, your call would be more important. The median household wealth is $20,500 while Mr. Adelson, who donated $10,000,000 to Mr. Gingrich's super pac has a net worth of $20 billion. That is $20,000,000,000. His net worth is just about one million times that of the median family. So for him to have spend $10,000,000 on Newt's super pac is like a normal person spending $10. Even if he weren't to give another dime, if Newt were to win the Presidency, Mr Adelson would lliterally be able to say he made it happen. If here to give another $90 million, bringing him up to $100 for the average person, he would have literally bought Newt the nomination. For the equivalent of $100 to us, Mr. Adelson can literally buy the most powerful office in the land. If that doesn't scare you, it ought to. What would you do with that power? More importantly, what will the first Mr. Adelson who backs a successful candidate do?

(115,609 posts)I don't want to actually buy the president's ear (though I could probably get a lot for it if I sold it on ebay), but it would be cool to be able to talk to him.
