Conservatives: If We Lose, We'll Impeach Obama

A highly influential conservative leader is already considering an impeachment strategy against President Obama if he wins re-election.

Grover Norquist of Americans For Tax Reform told National Journal that if Obama is re-elected and refuses to re-authorize the Bush-era tax cuts for millionaires, “Obama can sit there and let all the tax [cuts] lapse, and then the Republicans will have enough votes in the Senate in 2014 to impeach.”

Norquist is infamous for his anti-tax pledge, which has been signed by most Republicans and a few Democrats, which forces them to oppose any and all tax increases or face a primary opponent funded by Norquist and his shadowy multi-millionaire donors.

In an interview with Bill Moyers on PBS, Norquist professed his desire to shrink the government “down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”

not only for the Supreme Court selection, but the subsequent wars and squandering of our budget surplus. If the spineless Democrats had put him and his cadre away, jerks like Norquist and Gingrich wouldn't be out there further trying to undermine our country and democracy. The reason given was because the Republicans would go after a Democrat in office to retaliate. Well, I got news for you, they will do it anyway.

It takes 67 votes, not 51 and not 60. And a failure to pass a conviction motion would be interpreted as exoneration.

However an honest Senate would have done so including honest Republicans, but we know that they are either weak, corrupt or downright criminal. Also, this is something the Atty. General could have done to set stuff in motion.

him paying up his personal cash in civil judgements is just as likely.

No more than a handful of politicians have the guts to even contemplate such a thing, less to actually attempt it, and none of them have even a hundredth of the power needed to make it happen.

Though Norquist is a dumb enough fuck to think that if Biden becomes President that Boehner (or more likely Cantor if the GOP holds the House. I expect they'll vote Boehner out of his leadership post for being too reasonable and sane compared to the batty fruitcakes of the right.) becomes VP.

The House has to vote to have the trial and The Senate has the trial.

In a way you are right because once The House votes to send it to The Senate that is considered "being Impeached". Clinton is the prime example here. He was impeached but was not removed from office because of the decision in The Senate.

Grover is clearly talking about removing President Obama from office and therefore chose to focus on The Senate's role in the proceedings.

The funny thing is that even if he got everything his way we would still have a President Biden and then have an incumbent to run in 2016.

Surely we have enough laws on the books to put Grover and his like away for the rest of their lives? If a protester can be imprisoned without charge indefinitely, Why can't Grover be charged with something for his anti-American activities inside this country?
