It's like "Lord Of The Flies"

(146,286 posts)We all know it exists. Those who want to read it know where to find it. Beyond that, I can't see that site's relevance to anything.
It looks like the DU3 upgrade caused about a 1/3 traffic drop.

(146,286 posts)DU is political discussion forum. As such, its influence is on its active members, most of whom are politically active in one way or another. It's a place for those of us who are interested to discuss politics. From here, we are active in our local areas and other places.
What was your point again?

DU's traffic, hence visitors, hence influence, has seen a recent and marked drop relative to FR.
That's an observation.

(146,286 posts)over anything. I think its ability to inform its members and to enable its members to discuss issues does have an effect on how those members act. We have members who are able to communicate with legislators and other members of government. To that extent, DU has an influence.
A useful Alexis chart is one comparing DU to, say, the New York Times website or the Washington Post's website, or any other major media outlet's website. If you're actually looking for direct influence from a website, you'll find it at those places, not at DU. DU is a discussion forum for people interested in Democratic and progressive politics. As such, it doesn't have much direct influence on any politician. Indirectly, it may have some influence when people who visit here communicate with those people.
DU is just a collection of opinions.

2) ...Romney is the nominee, and since out #1 priority is the defeat of B. Hussein Obama, I urge everyone to vote for him with the caveat that....
3) ...every one of us must also vote for the most conservative Senators and Congressmen we can elect in order to hold Romney's feet to the fire.

(23,369 posts)I certainly cannot see allowing open praise of Romney. And I still do not think it's by any means assured Romney will be the nominee. He cannot actually win in any case.

(5,105 posts)From "NO ROMNEY-NO WAY!!1!1!" to:
Romney's positions: Abortion, gay rights, gun control, liberal judges, mandated socialist/fascist healthcare (RomneyCare)!
Soon enough, it'll change to "GO MITTENS!!!11!"

(21,096 posts)It IS interesting though, since I think JimRob has been much stronger against Mitt than he ever was against any other candidate that eventually won the nomination.
I honestly don't see any way around it.
I'm sure he can see all the signs pointing to a Romney win now and is thinking of a way out of his current position.
