John McCain solves the Republican image problem

On Meet the Press this morning John McCain was talking about how to maximize the chance of the Republican nominee prevailing.

His suggestion?

"The first thing is we have to get rid of these debates."

He explained that the debates in the Republican primaries are making the candidates look bad.

Not the Onion, folks.

Even my partner, who has no interest in politics in the least, and never watches any political news show, has been awed (and shocked) by these debates. She actually made pop corn for the 19th, saying, "Turn it on. I want to see the idiots babble."

Romney & Gingrich has done wonders helping the Democrats with messaging in the GE. Don't Stop Debating!

If they are your candidates, maybe you have stumbled on the wrong board.

How on earth does my reference to "their candidates" warrant an accusation that I'm "on the wrong board"?

just give out the names of the candidates on election day. This way the candidates won't look bad.

everyone who running and give a long hard look at what they say and do. This isn't the 19th century where one could win with the best press in the newspapers and right payoffs. This is the 21 century and we need concrete reasons pro or con in regards to any candidate who who running as the Leader of the Free World, emphasis on Free. We've given candidates way too many passes as it is. Though I am sick to freakin' death over the Republican anointing that has gone on for the last two 2 in he MSM, Republicans have shot themselves in the foot. People are starting to see that Obama is the better choice, conservative as that may be. Reason Has To Prevail Again and hiding their mental acumen is actually playing into the other sides hand. No more.

Why would free air time to promote Republican values and issues not be a good thing for his party?

The irony is delightful...
