Things I Thought I’d Never Live to See

I turned 60 this year, and I never thought I'd live to see...

The Supreme Court deciding who is President

A Congress and President do away with habeas corpus

US citizens held without trial for years

Americans using, and supporting, torture

The U.S. Government financing bank fraud

Removal of New Deal protections on banking

The American Government murdering U.S. citizens

An American President lying us into a war of aggression

One of America’s two parties completely losing its mind

Corporations running the government

A disgraced, twice divorced man running for President

American politicians deliberately sending American jobs overseas

People desiring Biblical law for America getting any political power at all

I'm 66.

A black man occupying the White House.
Gays and Lesbians serving openly in the military.
Even the beginnings of a national health care plan.
The end of our military presence in Iraq.
The Republicans reduced to running complete morons as candidates for President.
A successful rescue of the US automotive industry.

to look at both the negative and the positive together, or we can choose to look at them individually. For me, measuring the balance seems to be the best approach. Things are always changing.

You didn't expect much progress did you?

Of course Obama as the POTUS was a surprise. But it is nothing more than progress.

These are bad times for the good.

What do we say to our children when the powerful are allowed to break all these laws and not be jailed?
