The conservative blogosphere has been thundering for days about the Florida legislature weakening U.S. Rep. Allen West's south Florida Congressional district, noting that prominent Florida Romney supporter is leading the redistricting effort.
Rush Limbaugh has taken notice too: "Do you know what the Florida legislature is doing? Theyre writing Allen West's district out of existence...The Republican establishment, whether it includes Romney or not is behind it. It's amazing. Ther all out assault on conservatives is what the story is in the republican primary."
"The establishmentRepublicans are trying to take the tea party out....This is another reason why in the Republican primary there is such fevered opposition to Romney,'' Limbaugh said.

(32,013 posts)(4:15 mark) a caller (not in this video) earlier claimed that the Florida Republican Party didn't like West and that's why the state legislature did this goofy gerrymander. West stated that the Republican supermajority legislature gave his district a 4-5% advantage to Democrats. As far as political reasons go, West simply said "call the Speaker of the House".
(I don't normally stalk RW media but was flipping through my radio and heard Savage tape delayed on San Diego's KFMB 760 that beamed up to my part of northern CA at night.)

(50,546 posts)Apparently the Republicans doing the redistricting in the state of Florida want to remove one of their current embarrassments, the fact there's a war criminal representing them in Congress, so they just gerrymandered his district into a majority Democratic one.
