Medicaid cuts hitting hard

LINCOLN — Cuts in Medicaid have made it difficult for low-income Nebraskans to get needed health care, a group of advocates said Monday.

Speaking in advance of an afternoon legislative budget hearing, they predicted the state will pay the price in the long term.

"That is creating a tremendous burden and crisis and eroding the ability of people to succeed in their personal lives," said John Cavanaugh, executive director of Omaha's Building Bright Futures program.

State lawmakers cut Medicaid payment rates for health care providers by 2.5 percent last year. The only exceptions were for primary care services.

Well, what happens if you ended up in the situtation. You lose your business and your wealth and bingo, you are on Medicaid

The reality is that you should be willing to pay higher taxes to insure yourself that you have insurance to deal with this problem.
