to foreign countries. My loan service company is now outsourcing to the Philippines. I hate it and all the other ones too. How about giving us service for a change. Remember that and companies wonder why Apple and Nordstrom is successful.

(39,961 posts)than someone calling me to sell me something and they can barely speak a word of English. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer the phone anymore.
It's also awful when you need to RMA something or ask a question and the person you are talking to clearly is using a script and can't deviate from it a bit.

(16,038 posts)spoke to a very nice, yet English challenged young man in India who said his name was Barbara..foreign call centers are one thing, having your foreign call center employees pretend they are in the US by using US names is another sort of dishonesty..
I have a story about that..
I work at a local hotel, and when there's a problem with a third party reservation like Expedia (and there are almost ALWAYS problems, don't use them they suck, call the hotel directly and book...SOOO much easier, if more expensive---just sayin'), usually I get someone from...well... NOT America. I got aggravated one night, and said to this poor wage slave:
"Look, I know your at work, and I KNOW your job probably sucks, but here's the thing. If you can look out your window, and see either Desert, Tropical Rain Forest, or skyscrapers rising out of third-world slums, your name is NOT Jennifer. I don't much CARE that your name is not Jennifer, I DO care that your employer thinks I'm dumb enough to NOT KNOW that your name's not Jennifer. So please, tell me your REAL name, lose the script, think like the Human Being you ARE instead of the corporate robot you're NOT, help me help this other person, and then we can BOTH get back to hating our jobs. "
My problem was fixed in about 3 more minutes, and she seemed grateful to talk to an American who thought of her as a little bit MORE than just a Worthless (customer) Service Animal.
I know it's a pain in the ass sometimes to deal with these poeple, but personally, I think if those people are going to help perputate an American Economic Sphere of Influence, then they should be getting paid an AMERICAN Federal Minimum Wage (not their economy's equalivant), and in American Dollars if they damn-well want it that way on their paycheck. If they are going to work for US so we can be lazy, those people should be among the richest fuckers in their country, as far as I'm concerned.
But that's just me.

(1 post)U know why Indians use foreign names because it's easier for rude Americans like you to pronounce it.
It is very easy to make fun of others, it is very difficult to get humiliated all day for no fault of yours.
By the way, all Jennifers are not born with a golden spoon. Many of them are cheap druggists and prostitutes as well...unfortunately it's a very common name in India which very few Americans are aware of.
If u don't want to speak to Indians pay more to the companies, if u don't have much money in the pocket... Atleast respect others who are in the same situation as you in some other country and trying to earn money respectfully ...
Worthless animal -- I think you are more of that than anyone else. U know ur expedia call centre should be transferred back to America and then if dare to utter all that on the phone you will get kicked in your face by your own people.
Poor girl, that lady u spoke to, you might have spoilt her day, made her feel low and worthless...
One day India will outsource its call centres to us and uk and then when u take up jobs to run your home, we will treat u like shit, abuse you for ur American accent and then when u will have no choice but to apologise for no fault of yours.. Then you will understand how hard the job they did and how it feels when people address you like "these people"
God sees everything.. Be good to people... It will help you be a better person..

(38,613 posts)It is the companies that are "taking our jobs", not the people that work for them.
