Tom Joad: "...you've proven yourself to be an enemy of the state."

Text:
Am I Taking Crazy Pills?

TEXT ONLY: The very next time you use the phrase "the president's sequester," I hope you swallow your tongue. And for Pete's sake: articulate. You speak for a living and you always sound like you have Jello® pudding squirreled away in your jowls.

Just so we're clear: you have NO authority to now disparage what's going to happen to any programs affected by sequestration. None. If you believe that the Department of Defense programs are in jeopardy, you built that. Because Democrats brought a bill to the floor today that was a credible compromise to this poison pill (and it held majority support in the Senate, despite the defection of three Dixiecrats), but your filibuster worked, Mitch. How very common.

By once again obstructing sensible solutions to derail a plan that nobody believed would ever come to fruition, you've proven yourself to be an enemy of the state. The only people you helped were those individuals and corporations that get to keep their tax loopholes. I'm surprised you got 38 Republicans to support your plan to keep 100% of the cuts in place, with a 0% revenue approach. You must feel very special, Senator.

Meanwhile the Democratic compromise - which garnered majority support and is a reasonable middle ground - only failed because of your inflexible persistence to hurt the economic recovery for political gain. Your cantankerous, recalcitrant attitude toward compromise are the very antithesis of what politics is all about. You are a disgrace to your office, Mitch - it'll be a genuine pleasure to jump on the Ashley Judd bandwagon. She's gonna beat you like a rented mule.

He has the means to retire and simply enjoy life but instead he chooses to make a mess of our government. "Enemy of the State" is right. He's a wretch.

This entire outrageous scam was set up bipartisanly in order to force austerity on the American people. The entire fucking debt ceiling "crisis" was a manufactured Shock Doctrine SCAM to ensure that the only possible choices when we got to this point would be austerity and austerity.

Corporate Democrats were complicit.

We now have a choice between painful cuts, and more painful cuts, and for the first time in history we have been witness to the outrageous, disgusting spectacle of a Democratic President standing up and saying that it is necessary to steal food and rent money from senior citizens. This after making most of the Bush tax cuts permanent, and during a time when the American people have already been looted into impoverishment. We have years now of observing what austerity does to economies and human beings. We have known for years, and been warned by economists for years now, that austerity destroys economies and human beings. It is a scam for the obscenely rich who purchase influence in Washington, and nothing more. What is being done to us now, by Republicans and by our own Democratic President and corporate Democrats in Congress, is unconscionable. Where the HELL were the calls to cut corporate welfare? Where the HELL were the calls to cut the military? Where the HELL were the calls to raise the cap?

The Third Way garbage propaganda doesn't work anymore. There is no way to pretty up this assault or to argue that anyone should cheer for the lesser of two evils here, when even the "lesser" of two evils is a vicious, utterly unwarranted assault on the Americans who most needed this President to stand up for us.

It is indefensible. Period.

with which I'm sure McTurtle and Ashley Judd are both familiar, as I heard it frequently from people in that part of the country.

... was after my senior softball team (50+) got our butts kicked at the the 2008 Worlds in Phoenix. We had advanced from the AA to the AAA division that year and felt confident enough to face the tough west coast teams even though we were missing a couple of our best players. We lost all 5 games (most by large margins), then a teammate who's lived all over the country summed it up by stating we got beaten like a rented mule.

We still bring it up and laugh about it more than 4 years later.

Let's hope we're all laughing at Turtleman when he gets beaten thataway

Are you kidding me? They HOPED AND PRAYED it would come to fruition.

It's what they wanted.

We. were. fools.
