5. Poutrage - is that when people are upset that Obama isn't supporting their beliefs?

And if so, what's wrong with that? People voted for Obama because they wanted him to do stuff - like stand up for Government programs, defend Social Security, and the like. He's not doing a bang up job really.

...it's standard issue around here and some points are valid...some aren't. Many are expressing frustration than in most cases I share but there are some who seem to delight in tearing apart this administration cause they didn't quite dance the way this person or agenda dictates. They ignore the politics...the obstructionism of the rushpublicans or that other Democrats may not be on board and it's all President Obama's fault...as if he alone can make changes.

The problems with the budget aren't black and white and compromises will have to be made. There's tons of waste in most government programs...especially in healthcare that keep prices high and that we ultimately pay for. I am against touching Social Security as it's money that's already been paid in...and a system that's solvent...but it chaining that index (no money lost) along with making a better and more efficient healthcare system (and cover for those who still don't have it)...those are trade-offs that may be a good deal in the long run. As usual...devil is in the details.

I do more surfing here than posting...less and less all the time as people seem to get some bent out of shape so quickly...excuse me, I'm off to Olive Garden for a 20 ounce sugar soda...

Cheers...

I'd say it's the 1% splitting the pie at about 2/3 and the 99% getting the other 1/3, but that's just me.

I'm better at making pies than doing fractions. And I suck at making pies.

He's willing. They are not. The GOP would rather flush the entire country down the toilet rather than work with this president. And the people see that more clearly every day.

And guess what: time after time President Obama just keeps moving forward getting the job done, what he said he would do.

Congress (both houses) pass legislation. The president signs it. It becomes law.

There aren't (and shouldn't be) ways around that. Unless one party has both houses and president, both sides have to compromise. Republicans do still make up close to 50% of the population and should not be ignored just because they didn't win the presidency. Just like dems shouldn't be ignored the next time they fall under 50%. Repubs are being unreasonable to expect more than 1/3 of their goals (house vs senate + president) but they should have a say if they'd be reasonable. Obama is being reasonable by saying he also needs to compromise.

Leverage against the Republican leadership depends on people en massebeing very clear about which side is the toddler throwing a tantrum on the floor of the candy aisle, and which is the harried parent trying to move on to the produce section....

The GOP is coming unraveled, but like tantrum-throwing 2 year olds they can still do a lot of damage before finally getting a well-deserved time-out.

Obama should throw them under the bus. They were drunk with power in 2000 and 2004. They're irrelevant now and they need to go away. Permanently.

Obama seems to keep fudging and hoping for a grand deal that would essentially end the programs over time. Every proposal that has come up will weaken or kill both over time. They in fact should be strengthened..

I voted for Obama and gave money both times. And as a senior and a voter I expect him to defend these earned benefits against all comers no negotiations and no compromise. Period. Even with these programs seniors are suffering and even dying because their 401k's were trashed or they were laid off and their pensions were stolen years before they were ready.

Seniors godamned deserve these programs because they paid for them their whole working lives and now they are expected to eat dog food and die early. Well fuck conservatives and the GOP and the damned horse they rode in on.

We did not elect Obama to negotiate with these assholes.
