Venezuela says Chavez receiving chemotherapy

Venezuela's government has revealed for the first time that President Hugo Chavez has been receiving chemotherapy as he "continues his battle for life" since undergoing a fourth cancer surgery in Cuba.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro told reporters after a Mass for Chavez late Friday that doctors began the treatment after the socialist leader recovered in mid-January from a respiratory infection that followed his Dec. 11 operation in Havana.

The government has said Chavez was flown back to Caracas on Feb. 18 and is at the capital's military hospital since.

Chavez has not been seen nor heard from since going to Cuba, except for a set of "proof of life" photos released Feb. 15.

So, CNN or AP: at least one of them must be lying.

2. ABC.es said he's been moved again.

They are saying he is on an island (Orchila) where he has a presidential compound, and they've got it tricked out with medical equipment, etc. They say the cancer is in his lungs, and that Morales, who was denied a visit w/him the last time he passed through, was able to see him there.

If you can read spanish, this site has grabbed the ABC article.

It is pretty clear that ABC has sources on the inside of this matter--they were right about a lot of things over the past nearly two years. They did get scammed by a fake picture that was purported to be Chavez but in fact was some Mexican guy in a hospital bed--they pulled the pic once they realized they had been gamed, they aren't completely reliable as that demonstrates.
