Creepy doesn't begin to cover it. Middle East "setting", sounded like Aussie accents, weird narrator voice popping in and out. Loved the machine-graded road in the distance behind Abraham and Isaac, also the river that was bloody when the camera was on Pharoah but clear when the camera was back on Moses. Script seems to have been written from Cliff Notes with half the pages ripped out.

and some of the wisecracks would get this post alerted and censored on DU.

I did manage to sit through the trailer. I don't honestly think I could sit through the silly propaganda with an all European cast without hurling everything I'd eaten for the last week.

I'd still like to know what the hell it's doing on a channel that calls itself "history."

The script was written by true believers. That's all that's wrong with it.

Definite weakness. I don't know if it a blessing or a curse, but things like airplanes or wrist watches (like the original Ben Hur) never catch my attention until pointed out. No idea why, but when I watch a movie, its almost like I want to be sucked in where I don't see the faux paus.

Blessing/Curse.

Yes, 2 minutes vs 10 hours - of course they are going to pull the best CGI they have - but it looked interesting. (She says skeptically...)

Thanks for the review.

Love the captions:

"Critics are noting that the new Bible miniseries has perhaps the best-looking Jesus ever cast."

"The sweeping ten-hour show will retell famous religious stories, all with beautiful actors."

"While the show's cast may be stunning, the narrative itself has been derided as tedious and cheesy."

"Several members of the cast have backgrounds in modeling."

"Critics have mocked the show's attractive cast noting that few of the actors look as if they truly inhabit a B.C. world."

"The show is produced by the same people behind such non-religious hits as The Apprentice and Survivor."

11. They are playing to the typical audience who thinks Jesus looked like Charles I of England.

Without the fancy mustache.

Jesus was not a Caucasian from the Upper Palaeolithic period.

it was on History Channel last night , I watched because I was waiting for The Vikings history show. It was definitely creepy. The guy who played Moses really looked crazy.

Is this dramatization more or less likely to encourage you to believe in mythology?
