As Harry Truman once said, "I don't give them hell. I tell the truth and they think it's hell."

And so it did. They call it 'trickle down' but it is more like 'get pissed on' economics. Basically, the GOP stands for a plutocracy and hates our democracy and totally hates a well regulated market - it makes it harder to steal from taxpayers.

that it used to be only a handful of billionaires on the Forbes 400 list (13 when it was first published in 1982). Now all 400 and then some, are billionaires, with a combined worth (as of 2010) of almost $1.4 trillion.

How much would that be for every American? 1.4 Trillion? 4,666 dollars at 300 million? And that is just the top 400.

My math might be off.

... to act amazed that so many Americans don't even pay Federal income tax, and question why the rich and the corporations should pony up more until all those other millions of people start paying "their fair share." Here's the rub: most of those people don't pay taxes because they don't earn enough money, which really speaks to two things: those that are unemployed need to be HIRED, and those that are already working need to be PAID MORE. The goal: get everyone up into the income levels where they can pay taxes again. The rich/corporations need to either HIRE people and increase INCOMES, or they can PAY MORE TAXES. Their choice. They should not be allowed to avoid both.

And give Medicare to all. Obamacare and Romneycare are not the answer. Defending them is a loser.

I don't know how much it would take today but the IMF recently disclosed there is $17 trillion hidden in Cayman Island accounts. That number doesn't include the money squirreled away in Switzerland. The insane acquisition of personal wealth takes money out of the pool of resources for the entire world. It's a serious issue, for America and for the world.

The incredible irony is that the RW screams about the left wanting "wealth redistribution," but the reality is we have been in a mode of wealth redistribution for more than 30yrs...problem is it's all been redistributed upwards to the 1%.
