Rand Paul will FAIL, and America will WIN!

Last edited Wed Mar 6, 2013, 10:51 PM - Edit history (3)

I like John Brennan. It takes a tough man to refuse to call waterboarding torture when so many on the Moonbat Left are whining about "human rights" and other impractical crap.

That's why I'm so upset that Rand Paul is filibustering this humble and decent man, on the pretense that executing Americans any time and any place is NOT the President's perogative.

Last time I checked, a President who can kill at will with zero accountability was a hallmark of the individual freedoms we cherish so dearly. Only by giving up our civil liberties can we have our civil liberties, of course. As every child learns in school:

War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.

Even worse, some so-called Democrats *agree* with Paul on this! Agreeing with a crazy Republican on anything, ever, is betrayal! These traitors are nothing but Rand Paul enablers, they disgust me. Just like those so-called Democrats who agreed with Paul's father that we shouldn't invade Iraq. Disgusting, all of them. I happen to know many elected Democrats who voted to attack Saddam JUST because the elder Paul was against it. All Democrats should learn from their courageous commitment.

Regards,

Third-Way Manny

I believe Manny is a Leftist, which is only partly liberal. Leftists voted, en masse, for the likes of Gary Johnson and Jill-whatever-her-name is. This would have resulted in a win for Mittney, and it would NOT have rang in Liberal policies. In fact, a Mittney presidency would have undone everything President Obama has been able to get through.

I've read his posts, too. And by the way, Manny's been around long enough to know how to access the icon, and it's missing from his post. I can only conclude that he knows some people will see his post as and defend him while he actually meant every word. Clever strategy.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/03/06/democratic-sen-ron-wyden-joins-rand-pauls-filibuster/

Rand Paul: I Don’t Think Obama Will Kill Americans

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), filibustering John Brennan's nomination to lead the CIA on Wednesday in objection to the Obama administration's policy on targeted drone killing, ceded that President Obama personally was not the issue.

"I frankly don't think he'll be killing people in their homes tonight," Paul said.

At stake, Paul explained, was the prospect of unchecked power afforded to the executive branch if clear rules governing lethal force within the United States are not established.

On this issue Paul is right. The explanation, "I haven't killed anyone yet." is hardly an acceptable answer. I've never blown anyone up with a thermonuclear device so by the logic given to Paul, I should be allowed to have them.
The more important aspect of his question is for later administrations. Are we willing to give this President, or any President the opportunity to use this against Americans? The answer is no. That should have been the President's answer.

Holder says that an extraordinary situation, such as a Pearl Harbor or 9/11 could require the use of a drone strike. I suppose that's true. After all, Bush shut down all air transport immediately after 9/11, and I believe I read was prepared to shoot down a plane with American citizens if necessary. In a bizarre situation, the President can do what it takes to protect the nation. If terrorists took over a passenger plane and were flying it into a nuclear power plant, would we deny the president the right to take drastic action? Of course not. If the president used drone strikes willy-nilly against Americans at home, I have no doubt he would face severe consequences.

But, what can one expect from a racist pinhead like Paul, other than posturing and grandstanding to try to get some attention?

No need to hedge or write any memos or any such thing after almost 250 years.

There is a program in play, with a whole lot broader net than anybody is wanting to fess to.

It seems most prudent with civil liberties to say no never and deal with a truly exceptional situation with pardons.
That is part of what it is there for, to deal with situations beyond the law and system. You don't build a major framework for actual near never exceptions.

Sadly, imo, his speech was not superfluous.

I too trivialize the positions of anyone who disagrees with me and pretend it's satire to better validate my self-identity when I stand shoulder to shoulder with a libertarian.

My words but a whisper, your deafness a shout
I may make you feel but I can't make you think
Your sperm's in the gutter, your love's in the sink

So you ride yourselves over the fields
And you make all your animal deals
And your wise men don't know how it feels
To be thick as a brick

backed Paul's filibuster on her show, though she said he was an imperfect messanger. She also said she was flooded with hate mail.

Perhaps you can post an OP about her defection from our party? DUers need to know that she now sleeps with Karl Rove.

Fuck Rand Paul.

Holder responded appropriately in his first letter. This entire episode was a fundraising stunt: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022475057

This is worse than Benghazigate. It's more like Paul's Turkey straw man.

Paul might have well asked if the President believe he can invade Texas.
