Volunteers needed to help turn state legislatures blue!
by UNITEBLUE on MARCH 6, 2013

#TurnRedStatesBlue is not just a slogan. It is a core mission of UniteBlue. 50 state Twitter accounts have already been created, and state coordinators are coming on board to help move the discussion forward. Reddest states come first, but all states will have a UniteBlue chapter. The state accounts are an amplifier that helps members get their message out. We’ve already built one amplifier for our #WeDemandAVote page that makes it easy to tweet members of Congress based on a zip code. The zipcode data for each congressional district was assembled by 20 UniteBlue volunteers.

Now we need volunteers for an even more ambitious project: assembling a list of Twitter accounts for state legislators in all 50 states. This will be used to build all kinds of cool tools over the coming months. This project will be a lot of work, but the payoff will be huge. UniteBlue members will be able to tweet their state legislators in a wide range of campaigns. UniteBlue doesn’t define the message, it helps progressives spread their own messages more effectively on Twitter.

What Are Your Twitterbomb Ideas?

We hold one Twitterbomb per week. Have an idea? Send @UniteBlue a Direct Message or Email Us at bomb@uniteblue.com
First Twitterbomb?

Hashtags trend on Twitter when something new suddenly explodes. Once a week, Members of UniteBlue make a tag trend together at a set time.

Once a Twitterbomb is announced, Direct Message (DM) the tag and time to everyone you trust. Include “pass on in DM” or “share through DM only” in the message so everyone will get the idea. Don't Tweet the tag before the bomb blows!

You can only send DMs to followers. Make sure you are following everyone you invite so they can DM back. See who responds to your DMs and add anyone who seems excited to participate to a list for future Twitterbombs.
Send us a Direct Message or Email ideas to bomb@uniteblue.com

Is the goal to turn state legislatures LIBERAL BLUE, or just "blue?" Neoliberals are blue, too, and that kind of blue we can do without.

Republicans have been overtaken by neoconservatives. Democrats have been overtaken by neoliberals. DLC, centrists, 3rd way, "new" dems...they are neoliberals.

Gosh, wouldn't it be great if we could get our Democratic Party to do this?

I mean, turn blue.
