What Do You Think of a Person Who Introduces Themself As A Conservative Republican?

My first thought is this: "Is this person very wealthy? If so, then it's understandable why they're a conservative Republican. They're just selfish."

My next thought is this: "If this person is not very wealthy, then they're not very bright, or they're bigoted, or they're a fundie."

What are your thoughts?

Stupid or greedy. We could get picky, and break stupid down into categories like uninformed, ignorant, one-issue-voter, and so on, but they're all under the same heading.

Hello, my name is Brad and I am a conservative Republican. Most peoplke talk about their kids, their jobs, their pets before they announce their political affiliation. Maybe this is a new thing.

Most definitely independent, but they just happen to vote for Republicans 99.99% of the time.

Poor and Republican = Stupid.

I also tend to think of Republicans as timid. Self identifying as a conservative Republican makes me realize that this person lives in a scarier world than I do and that they are likely to be at least slightly paranoid.

Honestly, someone tells me that, and it's almost as if they're hiding something . . . whether it's racism or classism or homophobia . . . or that it's about something obvious, like a deeply religious Bible literalist or belief in Horatio Alger.

If I lie, and tell them I go to some other church, they tell me I should really come check out their church because you don't want to leave your eternal salvation up to just "any church".

Sometime I tell them that I don't go to church because I'd rather talk to God directly.

Watches Fox "news". Not very smart. If you told him a fact, he would not believe it. Thinks facts and opinion are the same.

They are selfish, but they are excused, because they have a philosophy that justifies it.

Many lessons in psychology to be derived from this.
