I'm taking welding at the local community college.
We were all standing around at the garage door at the back of our classroom/shop. We were waiting for everyone to get there, because all the other students besides me had to cut plate with a torch for a project that was an exam. The teacher needed to talk to us in a group.
The one black guy in the class walks in.
A young white guy gives him a Sieg Heil salute with a CLOSED FIST (Yeah, like the one the black Olympian track and field medalists gave in 1968, and they were stripped of their medals.).
The white kid says "White Power!"Anyway, the young white guy then put his arm down and smiled and said, "I got tired of it".
I was standing next to the teacher and I said, "He's achin' for a breakin'. That's not politically correct."
The teacher agreed with me the kid was out of line, but no one did anything. They were both large young men.
But this is Texas, and I hear a lot of opinions that stun and gobsmack me.

Kind of think that is beyond the political correctness issue.

(9,259 posts)The teacher does not expect to be handing "discipline" issues at this level. I would send an administrator or dean an email about the incident and let them handle it as they see appropriate.
Separation
(1,975 posts)Maybe they are friends and are goofing with each other? Would not be the first time I have seen or heard an exchange like that.
