Scott Romney Considering 2014 Senate Run In Michigan
The Romney name may appear on the ballot once again in 2014. Roll Call reported Friday that former presidential candidate Mitt Romneys brother Scott is considering a run for retiring Sen. Carl Levins (D-Mich.) seat.
According to the report, a Michigan GOP source close to Scott Romney -- Mitt Romneys older brother -- said he has expressed interest in running. Aaron Blake of the Washington Post later reported that he had been told the same.
Scott Romney, 71, a Michigan State University and Harvard Law alumnus, currently works as a corporate attorney at the law firm Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP in Detroit. He made a public political appearance at last year's Republican National Convention, announcing Michigan's delegation.
If the speculation proves true, this will not be the elder Romney brothers first shot at political office. In 1998, he sought the Michigan Republican Partys nomination for state attorney general. He lost the nomination, however, to John Smietanka, who was defeated by Democrat Jennifer Granholm in the general election.

(6,262 posts)Raucous parties when he was at MSU, divorced, ( therefor not a typical Mormon). He has a shot at this unless we come up with a candidate with both name recognition and MONEY. Current gov. Snyder is a Rethug and while doing vile things, is not hated there.

(26,257 posts)Willard was such a buffoon, when he was here, campaigning. And this guy is 71 and, unless I missed reading something, has never held political office. Snyder is tanking so he really doesn't have any weight to put behind any candidate.
I am sure we can come up with several great candidates. Is it too much to hope for Jennifer Granholm to run?
