A bill currently winding it’s way through the Minnesota legislature could double the amount of money struggling families receive from welfare grants. Jesse Russell reports:

Currently a family of two on the Minnesota Family Investment Program can expect to receive assistance at the same level as in 1987 - $437 per month. According to the Welfare Rights Committee 70 percent of the individuals on the program are children.

Angel Buechner is an MFIP recipient and member of the Welfare Rights Committee.
