What kind of "guidance" is she in need of? If it is an emergency, she should call 911.

and that was DECADES before the city cleaned everything up.

It truly isn't the septic tank you may think. If nothing else, have her stop into the Hyatt Grand Central (43rd and 3rd) or Marriott (Times Square) and talk with the concierge for things to do.

She will be fine.

Well, not a boy anymore.

As I said below, NYC is not a scary place.

My wife and I are traveling from Philly to Broadway for a show this week.

Nothing to fear.

I was born in Northern New Jersey, but it's been years since I've hung out there .... and I am male ....

Perhaps you can stay in contact with your daughter by cellphone and scan the interwebs, Google maps, guiding websites, etc, and remotely help your daughter find her way? ....

Good luck

There are so many people around that violent crime in Manhattan is very rare. If anything does happen, she should call 911, but I lived there for 12 years up until this last July and I never, ever felt threatened. As long as she stays in the heart of Manhattan and keeps her wits about her, she will generally be pretty safe.

I hope she has a great time! It's a great city and she should not let fear get in the way of enjoying it!
