a) The Republicans'. It balances the budget in 10 years by cutting spending on Medicare, Medicaid and other programs, repealing Obamacare, and reforming taxes to spur economic growth.
b) The Democrats'. It cuts $1.85 trillion from deficits over 10 years but protects Medicare and Obamacare. It raises taxes on the wealthy and boosts spending on public works by $100 billion.
c) Who cares? The Republican plan won't pass in the Senate, and the Democratic plan won't pass in the House. These are debating points for the 2014 election, not realistic plans for governing.
