Gunman kills 4, injures 2 at two businesses in upstate NY

HERKIMER, N.Y. - Police in upstate New York are searching for a gunman after shootings at two different businesses left four people dead and at least two wounded, according to local media reports.

According to LittleFallsTimes.com, police say two people were fatally shot at Gaffey's car wash in Herkimer and two more were gunned down at a business on Washington Street in Herkimer. The survivors were injured during the spree, but police did not say at which location.

State police told media outlets that the second business was a barber shop.

Herkimer Village police would only say there was a shooting and a manhunt. In the meantime, local schools are on lockdown.

When other areas are too fucking stupid to do the same thing.

Gun nuts can cross borders.

Which is why we need a federal ban.

They do have fairly stringent gun control laws. That isn't even close to guns being outlawed.

In light of all of the recent mass shootings and the debate on gun control are you seriously suggesting that posting a story about a mass shooting is irrelevant or trivial?

How fucking silly.

without comment (which is what the OP did) then all it does is clutter up the forum with run of the mill articles from the local section of newspapers. In the grand scheme of things this is a routine incident. Posting without comment is fairly pointless.

Maybe DU should create a separate topic for posting gun crimes? Then you could pre-number all 30,000 stories and just fill them in during the course of the year. You could have even more stories if you posted crime event where a gun was involved but never fired. Maybe to make it even more interesting, you could add stories for all 50,000 auto fatalities every year. Next burgularies... then zoning violations...

This incident was 0.00258% of the world daily death toll. THere are 870,000,000 people that go hungry every day. Just posting each individual case without comment is pointless.

If you have a solution, or want to propose an action to make things better, then I'm all ears. But if all you want to do is wring your hands and say "Look! Look!" then I have better things to do.

And let me put this in very simple language just for you: Major news stories are a staple on GD. That ain't gonna change. You can whine your gun loving ass off about it all you want. And posting a news story is hardly wringing one's hands, genius.
