Who is watching the Jodi Arias trial

besides me? I've become addicted to watching this trial (one reason I haven't been on DU much lately). Arias is an extremely shrewd and dangerous criminal, imho. I don't believe in the dp, but I sure hopes she gets life without parole.

I've been watching for about two weeks.

I've even skipped watching MSNBC so that I don't miss any of the questioning, but I do turn back over to MSNBC to watch Ed, Rachel, Lawrence - then I watch all the evening trial summary shows (Jane, Nancy, Drew) when they repeat later in the night.

Watch ONLY the livestream from the Arizona Republic, and then you don't get the twisted garbage HLN has been pushing on this case from Day One.

That is because Travis's friends didn't know Travis or Jodi and their relationship, and so they have pushed a lot things that just aren't true.

If I was the prosecutor, I'd request a visit to the apartment, or at least do a reconstruction of that closet, and ask her to re-enact climbing on those shelves, without displacing any clothes or flipping the shelves.

She has to be the most irritating person I've ever seen testifying in any case, and I'm a total Court TV addict.

Arias is telling the truth here, and Juan Martinez, the prosecutor, is hopelessly overmatched.

He's desperately trying to prove premeditation and motive, and he can't do it.

He overcharged this case. It should have been second-degree murder, but Martinez was too stubborn to accept the defense's plea deal.

Her case will be used in textbooks for decades to come, as she is a classic sociopath (or psychopath, if one prefers that term). And I say that not because of the murder that she planned and commited -- although save that, she would be just another insignificant cultural waste by-product -- but because of her total lack of remorse, and her inability to tell the truth twice in a row.

My former co-workers and I discuss the case frequently. They have to watch the HLN coverage after getting home from work, while I have the advantage of being retired.

I've been listening every day at work on my ipad. I will say, this is the first trial I have watched that the jury is allowed to ask questions. BY the questions they have ask, I think it is very very clear that they do not believe a single word she is saying.

three states allow jury questions, one being Arizona.

She should have quit when they ask the question "With all the lies you have told about this crime, why do you expect us to believe you now?" I actually went WOW, out loud. lol

And Martinez has pointed out so many lies and inconsistencies in just the different stories from the witness stand, not even counting all the previous lies.

Unfortunately, if there is one person in this thread that believes Jodi, there may be one on the jury. I hope not and that she gets life. IMO, she went there with the plans of killing Travis and it was brutal. I don't even want to imagine the pain he went through.

Once she went on the stand, she was in it for the duration - direct, cross, redirect, jury questions, redirect, recross.

The defense did spend a lot of time on her early years and we'll see if they had a good reason for that. There's more defense to come.

I think jury questioning is a terrible idea. What a poorly managed mess by the judge.

I do think she's guilty but if I was on the jury and it was going to be death penalty, I'd hang the jury.

are to try to help prove the abuse defense. She's saying it started in early childhood, went through several boyfriends, then to Travis. Supposedly, that's why she has "fog" when he "beat" her and when she slaughtered him.

Yeah, I don't think it is going to work either. I'm interested in seeing what the experts have to say, though.

To me, she is looking for attention and she seems fake! No emotion whatsoever about killing her boyfriend. She too might get off like that other girl and her baby! Kinda sad no matter how you look at it. Tired of the BF, let him go, if he tired of you, accept it. Baby in your way and parents want the baby, let them take the baby, don't kill the baby! I cannot recall her name right now! Most normal people treat their pets much better, these folks are losers!
