There is an excellent, albeit short, book called the History of Satan at archive.org written in the 1800's.

In it they show how he had a simple, and needed role, of prosecutor and was not generally seen as bad until later.

I guess there's a question now of how much of it was intentional, or even if there was an understanding among cast and crew that there was this likeness.

I've noticed that a lot of fundie assholes like to portray the mythic Christ figure into a tanned German while at the same time making any of the "bad guys" look a lot more arabic or black.

To their credit they did have a magnificent black actor playing Samson, and many blacks were in the early scenes as part of the tribes of Israel. Too many times though they fall back on stereotypical portrayals of
dark=villain, light=good — not that enlightened but we're in America. The whole uproar over the actor playing Satan is overblown though. I watched the show last night and at no time did I think the actor resemble the President. I do know however that there is a filter in Photoshop that can age people the more you dial it up. I wouldn't be surprise if there has been some doctoring of parts of this image. And I also wouldn't be surprise if that "still image" came from some right wing site.

and I thought makeup/wardrobe gave Satan a very "Emperor Palpatine" look. I did not notice any resemblance to Obama until I saw this story.

What bothered me was how white Jesus and Mary are. They should look Middle Eastern and semitic, not English Anglo.

Here is a link to what the actual actor looks like and thus it had to have been by design. If it was about making it look like a person then they could have picked any person lol Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Mitt Romney, George Bush, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Ted Kennedy, Pat Buchanan, Vladimir Putin, Fidel Castro, Kim Jong-un, etc. At the end of the day the problem with this is it will continue to perpetuate even more (conscious or sub-conscious) view/image/thought of this President/man (the article below shows exactly this).
