Body found in Tampa airport elevator shaft

TAMPA, Florida (WFLA) -- Airport officials and travelers alike are curious to know what happened to 31-year-old Chad Wolfe of Newton, Pennsylvania.

According to Tampa International Airport officials, Wolfe's body was found early Friday morning inside an elevator shaft.

TIA police say Wolfe entered the Armstrong elevators at midnight Friday and that it stopped working about 3:00 a.m. Police say repair crews found Wolfe's body at 10:00 a.m. later that morning.

The victim's father, Garland Wolfe, said police told him that his son, "pried open the elevator and fell to his death." .....................(more)

He entered at midnight and the elevator stopped working at 3AM? Why would he stay on the elevator for 3 hours if it was working?

What seems more likely is that it got stuck at midnight and he tried to get help for 3 hours unsuccessfully and then decided to try to get out himself.

If they know he entered the elevator at midnight, then there is probably a surveillance camera that would confirm nobody else was on the elevator with him.

Is it possible that nobody would have tried to use the elevator any time from midnight to 3AM Friday morning? Yes, that seems possible. Or because it was in a bank of 3 elevators, it could be that nobody noticed one of the cars was not working.
