Gay Penguins Become Dads

After nearly a year together at the Odense Zoo in Denmark, the same-sex couple attempted to become parents of their own. Keepers witnessed the pair trying to steal other couples' eggs. And during brooding season, the penguins even tried to incubate a dead herring.

&quot The two) seriously wanted to stay with an egg," zoologist Nina Christensen told The Star.

The Odense Zoo reports that the penguins were recipients of an unexpected blessing when a female penguin laid not one but two eggs. She ultimately ditched the second egg, which afforded the male couple to become adoptive parents.

However, before they were given the egg, the males had to practice on artificial eggs. Once proven capable, they received and successfully incubated the egg. The chick was born a month ago but the sex won't be determined for another eight months.

They said that gay pairings in the non-human species actually are an anomaly. But then anomalies are natural, just rare. But this is also why I hate the comparison of homosexual pairing being looked at from a scientific way because they are seen as "mistake", and far from natural. But then this is my issue with my science classes and science based explanation for homosexuality.

1,500 animal species practice homosexuality

"One fundamental premise in social debates has been that homosexuality is unnatural. This premise is wrong. Homosexuality is both common and highly essential in the lives of a number of species,"
...

"Sex among dwarf chimpanzees is in fact the business of the whole family, and the cute little ones often lend a helping hand when they engage in oral sex with each other."

Lions are also homosexual. Male lions often band together with their brothers to lead the pride. To ensure loyalty, they strengthen the bonds by often having sex with each other.

Homosexuality is also quite common among dolphins and killer whales."

And I would agree. As I said it's hard to take the science classes I've been recently taking because they ---I am not sure unintentionally or intentionally---marginalize it's prevalence. It's irritating to me. I mean I must not be the only one who's had the teacher who says sometimes it's something biological that goes wrong in the animal or that they don't identify the pheromones scent properly. I've even seen science documentaries like that. Maybe I'm getting the crappy old teachers.

I had a hen who would mount the other hens. She laid eggs (that were never fertile) and hung out with the rooster (though he never mounted her). She was a brave hen and would sometimes follow me around like a puppy, if she thought she would get feed. She was almost 5 years old when she died of old age in the nest box.

Chose to be gay.
Just like some penguins choose to be lawyers, or gang-members.

Just because they are two males that hang around each other makes them gay?

These penguins are not homosexual. They are just taking care of the egg which is the fertilized egg or unborn child and then taking care of the offspring.

There is no evidence of any Homosexual sexual behavior.

It is all hype.

Heh. One wonders just what kind of "sexual behavior" would convince "Whiskers2" that the penguins are gay? How does he know "there is no evidence"? And it is not as if one necessarily sees heterosexual pairs of penguins "doing the dirty" is it?

As the writers of "And Tango Makes Three" did they ever think that their story would literally come true?
