‘Joe The Plumber’ Holding AR-15 Giveaway

Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher, the conservative activist better known as "Joe the Plumber," has spearheaded a drawing to give away a free AR-15, which he describes as a "magnificent rifle." Wurzelbacher is holding the contest on his official website, JoeForAmerica.com, to push back against critics of the high-powered rifle.

"Despite what national news commentators say, the AR 15 is NOT an 'assault weapon' or 'weapon of mass destruction,'" he wrote.

Wurzelbacher rose to national prominence after asking President Barack Obama a question about taxes during the 2008 campaign. As a Republican candidate running in Ohio's 9th Congressional District last year, Wurzelbacher was trounced by Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH).

Prospective contestants have until midnight on March 31 to enter the drawing.
