Owned and operated something like 55 Internet cafes where patrons played sweepstakes for cash. The Feds shut them down last week. The head of the Jacksonville PD FOP and several other (20+) people were arrested.

Accounts of the "charity" showed they gave nearly 2% of their profits to their charity. The rest went to houses, cars, and cash for the operators.

came up for regulation or banning last year, but the Republican supermajorities in both houses curiously could not get the issue out of committee. So far this year, banning is getting unanimous votes.

Not so long ago, "casino boats" were due to be banned from docks in FL state waters. (FL leases the river bottoms to them and was going to stop renewing). Suddenly the (R) contributions arrived and they became an "important industry" producing "jobs for floridians".....

Maybe a couple of years, then the IRS sweeps in and raids them. Ive lost count of the boats in and out of John's Pass. Most are just laundering money for the mob. Wouldnt suprise me a bit if they had ties to Republicans.

more on the Bush GOPe side than the Scott - T-party side. Apparently the T-party side favors bogus veteran related "charities". I hear that "Allied Veterans" donated 2% of the take to ostensible veteran related charities.
