Wasn't that 3% entirely Phil Donahue?

This was before I got political, so I don't know first-hand, but I've read the posts on DU about how MSNBC canned him.

more Americans were opposed to the invasion than supported it. But then, the MSM filled the airwaves with military types who said OMG we must invade and it was all over. I also distinctly recall Scott Ritter and Joe Wilson who said, quite calmly, "Look guys, there are no WMDs." It was out there. Do NOT for one minute think that there really was a universal consensus that we needed to go to war. There was plenty of objections, plenty of counter information. A large number of us were not bamboozled. But once CNN and NBC and all of the rest went along with the Bush Bullshit, it was all over.

I am tired of pointing this out. It's sort of like saying over and over, the sun rises in the east. It sets in the west. None of what I've said is breaking news. Unfortunately, the news cycle is something that needs to re-invent the wheel every time the cycle goes around.

There were no WMDs. There was no need to go to war. Anyone with half a brain knew we would not be greeted as liberators, and that this idiotic war would cost billions, if not trillions of dollars.

And now, there's no hope of downsizing our military, but Social Security? Medicare? Well, they're just luxuries we can't afford.

I think that's what he called it, can't remember exactly. He had those idiot generals (one is dead now I think) in an attempt to form some "authoritative" opinion on his crap show. They were all ex-DOD clowns who parroted the Bush nonsense.

I do remember knowing that despite surveys showing most Americans opposed going to war, the MSM was filled with war-mongering males.

I listened, still listen, to Amy Goodman, which is why I was aware of the strong opposition to the war.

With the exception of my SO, some politically active acquaintances, and one sister (who didn't want to talk about it), everyone I knew believed every bit of the BS the media was feeding them.

The media did such a good job w/the propaganda, that even today, despite all we now know, only 54% of Americans* think that going into Iraq was a mistake. Definitely a significant improvement from a decade ago, but pathetic nonetheless.

*Statistic cited by CBS Morning News on their program yesterday morning. (3/19/13).
