Does Harry Reid Ever Work The Senate

.... Slow Harry says there are not enough votes to pass and assault gun ban.

I wonder just how much Harry works the floor and with what authority. Reading DU last night I have a feeling he doesn't want to have to deal with gun owners in his state of Nevada hence why he is not going forward.

I don't think this is a GIVE EM HELL HARRY kind of person I think he is more concerned with hell given to him.

If he can't get 40 votes out of a caucus of 55 I don't think Senator Reid is necessarily to blame. That's 28% (or more) of his own party not supporting him on an amendment that would galvanize the House GOP. At least now he has the words "reasonable" and "compromise" to use as a cudgel against the Republicans.

I think the AWB was desperately flawed but his tactics are sensible if the idea is to pass as much as possible.
