I know, I know, idiots want to, but it will never happen.
The Supremes decided that DECADES ago....but it's talked about daily
Am I going to have to hear for the next 30 years how repukes want to repeal "Obamacare"?
I may have to start doing stare contests with squirrels

(17,537 posts)I believe by now, MOST women in this country DO NOT have a right to choose.
I don't know the exact statistics, but once you take into account all the ways that it is restricted, and clinics are shut down, and funding is not provided via Medicaid ... if you are not rich or lucky, you do not have the right to choose in this country. And if you're rich, you always had that right and always will.

(30,151 posts)not the assholes that limit choice by denying funding or closing clinics...
There will be/are similar cases with how state/local governments are dealing with Obamacare.
My point of the OP is, will it be a fucking talking point by assholes on the right for decades to come. My daughter is only 3 right now and I presume she will be active in politics.

(25,406 posts)Once people have become used to being able to buy any policy they want, regardless of what pre-existing conditions they have, at the same price as anyone else, nobody will be able to take that right away. It would be like trying to abolish Social Security.
Medical underwriting goes away in about 9 months and it is never coming back.

(24,853 posts)that my vote would determine a woman's right to choose because of the possibility the Supreme Court would overturn it.
I think I've heard the very same thing every election since, even though Roe v. Wade has never been challenged in such a way as to be considered by the Supreme Court.
I voted for Jimmy Carter by the way.

(26,355 posts)Right now, we've got a 5-4 court, swinging towards the enemy more often than towards us. If the five conservatives last out Obama's second term, there's going to be replacements.
So that means we absolutely need to get a Democrat in the White House in 2016, and as many Democrats as possible in the Senate to ensure we can get someone sane into the court.
Otherwise, we could end up losing Roe v. Wade if some right-wing President stuffs the court full of fundies.
