The Clay Center Observatory's Ron Dantowitz told WBZ-TV that what most people saw was a 'very bright meteor.'

The Clay Center is an astronomical observatory in Brookline, Massachusetts.

'What was unusual about this one is that it was seen by so many people in so many different states.'

According to the Washington Post, eye witnesses said the meteor traveled from west to east in the northeast sky.

And the 8 ball tells us what will happen next. 8 Ball, is the planet Earth going to get hit by a meteor? Absolutely! Then we can send out the military and Scully and Moulder to check it out. We could call it The 8 Ball Files. And Moulder will finally find his lost sister Samantha, but she'll still be an 8 year old girl, and Moulder will have to raise her and her extraterrestrial sister. Oh it will be good!

Meteors in the sky around the spring Equinox
and the groundhog lying to us about when spring will be here.

co-incidence?
I think not!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A meteor bright enough to be classified as a fireball lit up the night sky over eastern North America on Friday, providing a spectacle witnessed in at least 13 states, Washington, D.C. and two Canadian provinces, the American Meteor Society said.

The society verified more than 300 witness sightings from Ontario and Quebec down to the southern U.S. state of North Carolina with more than 100 reports yet to be reviewed, said Mike Hankey, an observer for the American Meteor Society.

"This was most certainly a fireball seen over a good portion of the eastern states," said Robert Lunsford, the society's fireball coordinator.

"It happened at a good time, around 8 o'clock on a Friday night, when a lot of people were out to see it," Lunsford said.

It streaked right across in front of us as we were heading north on I270 just south of Rockvile. Ive seen them before but this one was much bigger and brighter and lower to the horizon. That photo did not look like what we saw. It was bigger and the trajectory was more flat and lower on the horizon going from west to east. It was quite a sight.
