NYPD Illegally Raids House of Man They Brutalized For Throwing Gay Pride Party

NYPD Illegally Raids House of Man They Brutalized For Throwing Gay Pride Party, Days Before Court Date (Please Read & Reblog)
A gay Brooklyn man is being targeted and harassed by the NYPD after filing a lawsuit against the officers who raided his home without a warrant and beat him unconscious.

It was early Sunday morning and Jabbar Campbell was hosting a gay pride party when two officers appeared at his house responding to a noise complaint. The officers told the party goers, some who were dressed in drag, to keep it down and left soon after.

10 minutes later, another group of police officers appeared. This time they tried to gain access to the building and began banging on the door with their flashlights.

One officer reached for the building’s surveillance camera (bottom gif.) and turned it towards the wall, blocking the view.

“I noticed them turning the security camera and I got scared,” Cambell said, according to the New York Post.

Campbell opened the door after a few moments only to be ‘bum-rushed’ by the cop. Two officers put Campbell in a shoulder lock while “5 to 7” cops beat him with their fists, flashlights and batons yelling “fag”, “homo” and “asshole” at him until he lost consciousness.

“They said, ‘Stop resisting arrest.’ I said, ‘I am not resisting.’”

But the cops beat him up anyway, he said.

“I blacked out. I was concerned for my life,” said Campbell.

The NYPD then arrested Jabbar and questioned the party goers who witnessed the beating, asking them if they were engaging in “gay orgies” and “screwing each other.” They told the officers they weren’t and they also denied that Campbell was resisting.

Police charged Jabbar with resisting arrest and possession of drugs, allegations that Campbell insists are lies, which must be so because the police later dropped the drug charges after the reported on the story.

The NYPD transported Campbell to Kings County Hospital where he received 9 stitches and was diagnosed with a concussion.

Wonder if any of the pro-police-brutality squad will make an appearance. (I know they don't consider themselves pro-brutality, but when they rationalize and apologize for criminal cops, that's is the net result. They're pro-brutality. Whether they like that label or not.)

9. Inquiry Into Officers After They Visit Man Who Accused Police of Assault
Sat Mar 23, 2013, 08:23 PM
Mar 2013
The Internal Affairs Bureau at the New York Police Department is looking into an assertion that officers unlawfully entered and searched a Brooklyn apartment belonging to a man who had accused officers of assaulting him in his building, police officials said Thursday.

Parts of both instances were recorded by surveillance cameras set up by the man, Jabbar Campbell, a data recovery specialist who runs a recording studio in his home.

In the first episode, in January, Mr. Campbell said, officers kicked and punched him in the ground-floor hallway of the building in the Crown Heights neighborhood, bruising his face and cutting his lip. The recorded images did not show contact between Mr. Campbell and the officers, but a camera aimed at the front stoop showed a sergeant turning the lens to a wall before entering the building that night.

Last Friday, the surveillance cameras once again captured a visit to Mr. Campbell’s building, this time showing three men wearing Police Department jackets pushing open the building’s front door and later entering a room inside an apartment.

Dante Singleton, who shares the second-floor apartment with Mr. Campbell, said the officers entered by pushing open an unlocked door. He said that he asked the officers if they had a search warrant, and that they said they did not. They explained that they were responding to previous noise complaints, Mr. Singleton added.

“They said they had just so happened to be in the neighborhood and they decided to check it out, and that’s pretty much verbatim,” Mr. Singleton said.

I have seen too many bullies go into law enforcement, and with the badge, they get even worse because they have power over others. And as a law abiding citizen, who should see police as good guys, I am terrified of them. All they have to do is look at me, which means that they notice me, and I cringe. It should not be that way.

of bullies and the bullied that become cops. A person in school feels powerless when they're being bullied so they become cops to to bully people. They were frustrated in regular school life because they were innocent victims of bullying so they become cops and take out their frustrations on innocent citizens.

Who here on DU were not victims of bullying. I was when I was in elementary school, and I fantasized about beating the crap out of the bully that hurt me and made me feel embarrassed and insignificant. I never acted on those fantasies and just chalked it up as growing up. But, I strongly believe that other people acted on those fantasies by resorting to violence and/or becoming cops.
