(12,022 posts)I know of only one person who's actually climbed it (in the heat of mid-summer), but he was given permission by Egyptian antiquities authorities.

(11,366 posts)I agree the pictures are breathtaking, but there is more than one reason why people aren't allowed to climb the pyramids:
1. It's dangerous; and
2. It hastens the degradation of the stones.
I really don't want the Great Pyramids ruined because thrill-seekers decided they could disobey the rules and climb all over these ancient monuments.
